Introduction to crystalline materials

Ruby

Ruby, also known as red corundum, has the following main physical properties: refractive index: 1.762 to 1.770, bifurcation rate of 0.008 to 0.010; density: 4.00 g/cm3.

Sapphire

Sapphire with the molecular formula Al2O3 is an excellent multifunctional material. It is resistant to high temperatures, has good thermal conductivity, is hard, infrared-transparent and chemically stable.

Quartz glass

Quartz glass has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, high temperature resistance, excellent chemical stability, and excellent electrical insulation.

Barium fluoride

Barium fluoride crystals are an excellent high density optical material with excellent scintillation properties and a good buffer layer to connect semiconductors with different lattice constants.

Calcium fluoride

Calcium fluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CaF2 and is a colourless crystal or white powder.

Silicon

Silicon, an important semiconductor material, has the chemical symbol Si and is used in the electronics industry for its high purity and excellent electrical and mechanical properties.

Zinc Sulphide (ZnS)

Zinc Sulphide (ZnS) is available in two materials, a white multispectral material and a yellow primary material, which is a chemically inert material with high purity, insoluble in water, moderate density and easy processing.

Zinc selenide (ZnSe)

Zinc selenide (ZnSe) is a chemically inert material with high purity, high environmental resistance and easy processing.
